Terms of Use
Last updated: June 2026
By using Tradebooks (“the service”), you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
What Tradebooks does
Tradebooks is an AI-powered tool that helps UK self-employed tradespeople organise their business expenses, categorise transactions, and estimate their tax position. It is designed as a time-saving aid for bookkeeping preparation — not as a substitute for professional tax advice.
Not tax advice
The tax estimates provided by Tradebooks are illustrative only. They are based on published HMRC rates and general rules, but do not account for your full personal circumstances, payments on account, pension contributions, prior year losses, or other factors that affect your actual tax liability. Always verify your figures with HMRC or a qualified accountant before filing your Self Assessment. Tradebooks accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of its estimates.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter.
- You are responsible for meeting your own tax obligations with HMRC.
- Do not enter sensitive personal data belonging to other people.
AI-generated content
Tradebooks uses the Anthropic Claude API to categorise transactions and extract information from receipt images. AI categorisation may occasionally be incorrect. Always review the results before using them. The “Check this” flag exists specifically to highlight transactions that need your attention.
Limitation of liability
Tradebooks is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, tax penalty, or damage arising from use of the service or reliance on its outputs.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
